Sara-Lee Burton makes bespoke dark art as a hobby. She also runs a pub, and uses her creations to decorate the walls.
Last year she made a spooky 3D witch: an acrylic painting on MDF built out with chicken wire, papier-mâché, air foam clay and recycled scraps, with hair made from leftover passementerie cord.

In daylight she looked great, but as Sara-Lee put it, "at night her face is lost."
She'd never worked with electronics before, but this year she used Tiny FX to add lighting to the finished piece.
Tiny FX - LED Effects Controller
Add smart light and sound effects to models and dioramas with this small-but-mighty RP2040-powered programmable controller board.
The witch now wakes up at random intervals of 30 seconds to five minutes, cycling through flashes, a steady glow, slow fades and flicker.
"The lights have taken the witch to another level. So many customers have jumped – it's excellent!"

And she's only getting started:
"Your product has opened up so many opportunities for me – my brain is working overtime."
We can't wait to see what haunts the pub next.
If you're near Mansfield, pop into The White Swan, Pleasley and meet the witch in person - just keep an eye on her while you order.
